Color Challenge

I recently ran across a few challenge sites, and I have been very inspired to play along with some of them! Honestly though, at first I didn't know if they would "let" me play since I'm not really a card maker. BUT, then I saw this amazing artist/crafter Cupcake's Creations participate in a few, with her art journal pages, and she inspired me to take the plunge and jump in!

So, here's the challenge at The Playdate Cafe for this week:

And here's my take on it (an art journal page)
Refresh

In the past, I have never really started an art journal page with a specific color scheme in mind, but I LOVE how this turned out so I know I will be doing more in the future.

Products used include all sorts of paint, gesso, stencils, sprays, stamps, etc. My favorite stencil on this page, the hexagons, are actually the remnants from punching out game pieces for The Settlers of Catan. Oh how I love my husband's (and mine) pack-rat tendencies sometimes!

A Peek at my art

Apparently, "shortly" in my world means about 6 weeks, because that's how long it took to actually pretty up the blog! And well, it's still not that pretty but at least it's better than it was before.

So I guess I will share a little bit of my body of work here to get started. I have been taking several workshops, mostly from Christy Tomlinson, but also from Roben-Marie Smith and Traci Bautista (on Strathmore).

I have so many things to share but here are just a few of my favorites:

inspired by the SheArt workshops:

Brother and Sister

inspired by Roben-Marie's art journal conversion class:

and a random art journal pages:

And my other artsy love is digital scrapbooking. Here are a few of my favorite pages lately:

Well, thanks for looking! Hopefully I will be back soon with more posts.

New Beginnings

Well, it is a sad day. I used to have a poor, neglected blog at themathematiciansassistant.com, but since I rarely updated it, and since I really wanted to start fresh, AND my web designer was switching servers/hosts/whatever, I figured now was a good time to let it die. A moment of silence, please?

...

...

Ok, now that that's over, I think it's time to get excited again! I have been up to a lot lately. I have taken a number of mixed media courses in the past year, and I have learned so much. I have also been doing a lot of digital scrapbooking, of course.

My intent with this blog is to blog about all of my creative interests, and maybe a few personal things here and there as well. In the future, I hope to create a more lasting and personalized blog, but this will be my temporary home for now!

I'll be "prettying up" the blog shortly, so come back soon!
