Play Date Cafe Challenge #171

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog! Take a look at this color challenge hosted by The Play Date Cafe:

This is one of my favorite color combinations to look at, but I find it well, a challenge! to work with, actually. I decided to do something fairly clean and simple, so here was the result:

I used one of my new toys--a Stampin' Up Sizzix hexagon embossing folder. Sadly, my cardstock must be too cheap or old or something, because the first few pieces of paper I embossed, ripped right apart. But this one managed to stay fairly intact.

One of my other new favorite toys is a simple one, and I don't know why it took me so long to buy one....the Tim Holtz distressing tool. I used to try to do it on my own with a makeup sponge or something, and it never worked right. The tool works perfectly!

Other supplies of note: Basic Grey Fact/Fiction paper (picked this up at 70% off at Joann's), my tiny heart punch, Tim Holtz Tiny Tags die (for the tiny tag), Tim Holtz flower garland die (for the leaf), and flowers from my stash. I put a bit of splats of Georgia Peach Color Shine, just because I need a bit of messy on everything I make :)  I used an alpha for the sentiment because I am sorely lacking in sentiment stamps. Any recommendations??

Finally, I used the gorgeous stickers provided by our sponsor this week, SRM Stickers. I used the orange polka dot scallop and the "hello beautiful" trim. They worked perfectly for this CAS card.

Well that's it! Thanks for looking! If you would like to join the challenge at The Play Date cafe, check out the blog for complete rules and prize information.

Play Date Cafe #170

Check out this week's modern and fresh color story:

I decided to go artsy this week:

I happened to have some leftover buttercream flower diecuts (from the flower garland die by Tim Holtz) that were perfect, so I started with those. Twine from our sponsor, the Twinery made really neat stems, I think! Then, I wanted to use a few new purchases - a ticket punch by EK Success, a text stamp by Tim Holtz (on the yellow ticket and along the side), and black embossing powder from Stampin' Up. Sadly, it is really hard to see the embossing in the photos, but I LOVE the shiny dimension it gives in person!

I used a bunch of stuff on here so I won't list the rest, but I like the messy result :)

Play Date Cafe Challenge #169

Happy Valentine's Day! Check out the lovely subtle colors this week:

I decided to make another love-themed card and I think it's my favorite card I've made so far.

I used a vintage doily, painted pink then sprinkled with Perfect Pearls powder. For some reason, I am really loving tickets lately, and even though I didn't have any fancy designer ones, I actually found some old tickets from a raffle on the nightstand and used those! I used some metallic ink on a Heidi Swapp Color Magic ribbon border, and some pink ink on the Heidi Swapp/Pink Paislee resistable heart. Then I added a flower from my stash and some tiny tabs by Tim Holtz Alterations Tabs and Tags, and some twine. (I'm not sure who the Hello stamp is by)

This week's sponsor is Simon Says Stamp! This is perfect because I am finally figuring out how to use Inlinkz so hopefully it is linking correctly to some of the products I used below :) If you play along in our challenge, you could win a gift certificate! Get all the details at The Play Date Cafe Blog! Make sure to check out our guest this week, Christine Traversa.

Playdate Cafe Challenge #168

Well you can tell it is almost Valentine's Day, the pretty pink hues are all over! Check out this week's lovely color story:

And I am very excited to tell you about this week's sponsor, Avery Elle:

I wanted to do something a little different this week, so I did a - gasp - CAS card!  Here's my version of CAS:

The hearts are from vintage sheet music, sprayed/painted with assorted inks. The alphabet stickers are Memory Makers. I like how it is simple but still has that messy "me" look :)  Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, and I wanted to say farewell to two of our team members, Stacy & Jocelyn. I loved having them with us and seeing their great creations each week!

Love-ly Layouts

I did some challenge scrapping this weekend and I want to share.

First up is my entry for CSI Challenge #57:
I have found the CSI community to be so kind and inspiring! I got tons of comments on the last challenge I entered there, and I already have a bunch on this one too! I was so excited when I saw two digi layouts in their examples, because I am much better at digi at this point. I plan on entering a lot more of their challenges in the future.

And here is my layout for ColourQ #174
It looks like pink is all around for February! I don't mind though. Here is an artsy layout of me and my husband.

I hope you enjoy!
